Environmental Permitting & Biological Monitoring

Ojai, CA (07/2020 – 01/2024)

In collaboration with the Concerned Resource Environmental Workers (C.R.E.W.) and The City of Ojai, Pax is supporting the Middle Stewart Canyon Creek Restoration Project with environmental permitting and biological monitoring. Restoration activities focused on removal of invasive, non-native species including river red gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis), Mexican fan palm (Washingtonia robusta), and Canary Island date palm (Phoenix canariensis), followed by the planting of California native species in five Intensive Restoration Areas. The goal of the project is to enhance critical habitat for special-status species southern California steelhead trout (Oncorhychus mykiss irideus DPS 10) and California red-legged frog (Rana draytonii) while supporting workforce development for local youth ages 18 to 24 at the C.R.E.W. Pax is providing environmental permitting and regulatory compliance services, inter-agency coordination, stakeholder outreach, biological surveying and monitoring, and long-term maintenance/analysis.
