Pax is supporting Bellingham Marine and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works with the Marina Del Rey Public Safety Dock Project. Biologists are providing weekly surveying and monitoring services for ongoing demolition and construction of the MDR Public Safety Dock. Biologists are surveying for black-crowned night herons (Nycticorax nycticorax), great blue herons (Ardea herodias), snowy egrets (Egretta thula), and other sensitive species within 500 feet of the work site, as the use of heavy equipment can cause excessive noise, odors, or vibrations (e.g., pile driving). Pax is also providing acoustic monitoring to ensure noise generated by construction and demolition activities remains within designated thresholds.
